Spectacular Saturday Sewing!

Actually, it was Friday too...and so much fun! I had a shower to attend and made a dress for my friend's toddler (she is adopting her from Haiti). I made her dress from the aqua and brown fabrics I used in the dress I made for Brooklyn earlier this year. The entire time I was sewing, Brooklyn was playing with buttons and picking out fabric for her own dress. It was adorable!

She really wanted a dress made from the pink/black printed fabric, but I really didn't have enough. Even the coordinating fabric was not plentiful...so we made a shorter dress and she will wear either capri tights (now) or full leggings and a shirt under the dress for fall.

I used an easy set of instructions for a pillowcase dress. Instead of using ribbon, I made long straps from the pink/black fabric. This step makes the dress take a bit longer, but I think it is more durable. I am in love with this dress. It was easy and looks so cute. I can see her wearing this with jeans/leggings/tights...it going easily from dress/tunic to shirt. SOOO fun!

To make things even better...I was shopping at Target yesterday and took a little time to cruise the clearance. The shoes are Converse...pink butterflies on a pink background...and they were $5.74!!

Having a girl is so much fun!!!

These dresses are super cute - love the one that you made for Story, too! You really should open an etsy store!
